New Goal

My original goal after finally moving out of my parent's house and working full-time once again was to rent for a year and then buy a place in the city. I hate the fact that I really just throw out rent money each month and don't have anything to show for it.

Well, I got a mentor at work and talked to some other people in the marketing department and it seems like the best way for me to get ahead is to get my masters. AND the best way for me to get the most bang for my buck, would be to quit my job, go to school full-time, and then either try to go back to my current company or get recruited someplace else. If I quit and go to school full-time, I think I will be able to concentrate more and also I will enjoy a jump in salary along with a possible signing bonus.

So this is my new goal. I spent the day today looking for apartments (it looks like I will continue to rent OR I guess I could always move back with the rents as I go to school, but that would be a last resort). I also filled out the little online form to get some information on the Kellogg School of Business.

The apartment search is starting to give me a headache so I guess I will start looking for GMAT books. I should really study a little before I take the test. I can't believe I've been out of school for almost 7 years now. That's a scary thought, but I was actually getting excited reading about the curriculum online and the different courses.

So once again I put my love life on the backburner to pursue other goals. Well hopefully grad school will also be a good place to … meet that goal.

The Secret

Has anyone read and/or seen The Secret. I heard about it on Ellen and then on Oprah.

I went out and bought some poster board and I'm procrastinating on finding some pictures to put up to help me visualize my goals.

I'm also procrastinating on going out and buying the book or dvd so I'm just working on what I remember seeing on Ellen and Oprah. I think it is something about the law of attraction and when you put your goals out there (on paper) you are more likely to work towards it and attract the success you strive for.

Not that I'm too lazy to think of my own goals, but I'm hoping what everyone else has to say will spark some creativity in me. So what are your goals?

I have some long-term fun ones like I would like to visit (not just drive through) all 50 states and all 7 continents.

I would like to go back to school and get my masters in business specializing in marketing.

Those are just a few to prime the pump (as my boss loves to say). I guess once I identify all of my goals, the more important thing is to map out what I'm going to do to attain them. One step at a time I guess.

My first baby step was to put it out on my blog. Posterboard here I come.

The Truth

I'm probably the last one to see it (similarly I was the last person on Earth to see The Titanic), but I watched An Inconvenient Truth this weekend. It is on Showtime this month along with Showtime On Demand.

I believed in Global Warming before, but the evidence really is overwhelming. And if I had any doubt over the weekend it was 85 in Chicago and today it was 40.

STOP THE INSANITY!
