Moving Update
Well I closed on my condo last Friday and once everything was said and done, I was so relieved until that night my laptop crashed and I haven't been able to get it going since.
I just hope that I will be able to retrieve the files since I haven't backed up since November. One of my brother's friends is a computer whiz so I'm hoping he can access the hard drive and just copy the my documents. I went out and bought a new hard drive and one of those Enclosure Cases so you can take a laptop hard drive out, plug it into this enclosure and then you can plug it into another computers USB port and access the hard drive. If the hard drive is working, that is.
Since then I've been trying not to think about the laptop (since I still have my company laptop) and concentrating on moving. The condo I just bought is in a high rise building and they want to charge you something like $200 to move in and block off the elevators for a 2 hour time period. So I said screw that. If I don't have any furniture to move (I only had a kitchen table, 4 chairs, and my desk chair) then I will just make a car trip over every night and use the elevator once or twice, they can't charge me for that. So that is what I have been doing all week. It has been hectic, but my brother came up today and we got just about everything done.
I've gotten to know the guys who work in the parking garage since I ask them every night if it is ok for me to leave my car near the door to unload.
Now I'm sitting in my old place with my air conditioning blasting and NO TV. I have my air conditioning unit up on Craig's List so hopefully I will get a buyer soon. I got a call this morning, but the guy's highest is a little low for me and I just checked my email and someone said they were interested so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm pretty impressed because I sent emails out to all my friends and my brother posted a flyer at work and I did the same around my condo and I didn't hear anything. Yet I posted it to Craig's List last night around 11pm and I got both responses around 9am today.
Alright well I guess break time is over. My goal is to do my laundry (since my new place doesn't have a washer/dryer in the unit, I might as well take advantage of the one I've got here), and clean up this place so I get my security deposit back. Once I get my old place done, I can concentrate on the new one and getting everything organized.
Last weekend, my parents came with me to help me pick out the colors of my new couch and in doing that we were also able to pick out the color I wanted to paint the walls. So Sunday, my dad and I got the paint and he showed me how to paint. We primed the accent walls and he was able to come back on Wednesday and spent the night at my new place and painted all day Thursday, but he ran out of paint so I have one wall and the closet doors to finish up. I guess I should do that before cleaning everything.
After that, I need to pick out my bedding so I can decide what color to paint my bedroom. I'm told that since I'm ordering furniture that isn't on the show room floor it will take between 4 and 6 weeks so I guess I have plenty of time to get everything done before then. Although I'll really love my new bed after sleeping on a blow up mattress for the next couple of weeks.
So I guess I need to decide whether or not I want to watch TV on my blow up mattress on the new place tonight or sleep in my bed here without TV.
