Furniture Coming Sooner Rather Than Later

WoooHooo!

I just chatted with my aunt online and she gave me some great news. It looks like my furniture will be coming sooner than expected. She said it will come on 3 separate trucks and it will probably be cheaper if I wait and get it all delivered to my place at once, but the last truck leaves the warehouse on September 18th and if it takes 2 days or so to get to Chicago, that still means I'll have all my furniture in less than a month.

OH it will be so nice to just lounge on the couch when I get home from work as opposed to sitting at the kitchen table. Then I'll really feel like an adult. Although making my first mortgage payment today felt pretty adultlike.

As soon as I get everything, I'll post some pictures of the new place.

Summer Flying By

Well this summer is really flying by. I have been so busy this summer, I haven't really even taken the time to enjoy it. I was a little sad when I got home from work tonight and looked out my window to see that the pool is closed. For some reason I thought it would at least be open until Labor Day! Well at least I went swimming once this summer.

The new place is coming along nicely. My dad and I finally got everything painted (and I finally got the smell of paint out of here) and we built some bookshelves in my closet so I can finally start to get organized.

I bought myself a new bed for my birthday and had it delivered so that night, I was able to deflate the air matress and get a good night's sleep on my new KING SIZE BED. = ) Boy is that thing comfy.

I also ordered my new furniture and it will hopefully be here soon. My aunt works for a furniture company so she got me a great deal and also pulled a few strings for me so instead of waiting 4 to 6 weeks for my couch and the rest of my bedroom furniture, I'm told it will be on the next truck out. YEAH!!!!

Unfortunately I didn't win the $300+ Million Powerball on Saturday, but I just saw that the Illinois MegaMillions is up to $250 Million so I totally need to get a ticket.

Starting to Settle In

Well I've slept in my new place for a week now and I'm finally starting to settle in. I finished up the rest of the painting in the living room on Friday and picked out new bedding on Sunday so now I can pick a color to paint my bedroom.

I would have updated everyone sooner if my personal laptop was up and running, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my brother's friend can recover all of my documents. It turns out he works only 6 miles away from my office so I dropped off the hard drive at lunch today and I'm hoping they will get a chance to work on it and I'll get it back tomorrow.

Have you ever noticed how you forget what a pain it is to move? I guess it is like giving birth or something. Afterwards, you forget and that's why people have more than one kid. I've decided I'm not moving again until I can afford movers. You know the ones that come in, pack up all your stuff, move it, and all you have to do is organize it the way you want to. I haven't had this many bruises on my body ... probably since the last move from balancing boxes in my arms and on my hips in order to get all the doors open in my old place.

Today as it was pooring rain when I got home, I was so happy that I have garage parking. I forgot what it was like to have to carry stuff inside when its pouring down rain. I guess I used to just leave it in the car until it stopped.

Well I guess its time to check on my laundry. I'm using the laundry room for the first time so I'm not sure how long it takes to wash a load. I couldn't believe it costs $1.65 a load to wash. I used to complain about the $0.75 I paid in college. I didn't look at the dryers yet, but I'm hoping its less.
